Logistics Operator - Packaging & Shipping

Department: Logistics

Reports to: Logistics Lead

Summary

The Packaging & Shipping Logistics Operator is responsible for ensuring that the daily product shipping requirements of HDCS are met. This individual takes direction from the Logistics Lead and is responsible for the packaging of outgoing products in adherence to HDCS standards, along with performing daily shipment activities. This position also serves as back up to the Receiving function, as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Communicate openly with the Logistics Lead to ensure that activities and goals are in alignment with the strategic vision, direction, and values of the company.
2. Package product for the storage and shipment of finished goods inventory.
3. Perform material movement transactions as they apply to shipping in the MHS.
4. Communicate with other departments as needed to provide ship dates, tracking, and delivery status of outbound shipments.
5. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
6. Track and maintain adequate shipping supplies.
7. Process “end of day’ shipping report and distribute.
8. Assist with warehouse duties as needed.
9. Provide freight cost estimates as required.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. A minimum of 6 months packaging and shipping experience.
3. Good organizational skills.
4. Must be able to communicate effectively.
5. Proficient with the computer (Excel, Word, Outlook).
6. Strong attention to detail.
7. Working knowledge of production documentation. Production orders, serial numbers, drawings, SOP/SOW.
8. Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
9. Required to stand for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for an office / light manufacturing environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
