We are a business built on relationships and we are dedicated to achieving collective success through working collaboratively with our employees, customers, suppliers, industry partners and local communities.
We are aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. As part of the Hexatronic Group, we have committed to a near-term carbon emission reduction target with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to 42% reduction in scope 1 & 2 and 51.6% reduction in Scope 3 by 2030.
Data centres account for up to 3% of global electricity consumption. This figure is set to rise as studies show that AI and technological advances will accelerate the demand for energy consumption. By developing energy efficient products and working hard to decarbonise our supply chain, we will be able to help customers reduce their environmental impact.
Our key focus areas
At IDS, we are focusing our efforts based on the impact and responsibility we have on people and planet while holding ourselves to operating at a high ethical standard.
Empowering our people
- Create a range of volunteering opportunities for our people to get involved and develop a community engagement program.
- Employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Invest in our people through development opportunities.
Environmental responsibility for our planet
Decarbonisation efforts within our operations, supply chain and DC solutions
- Procuring 100% renewable energy in our operations.
- Adopting circular economy principles - This involves delivering more material efficient designs, extending the life of IT equipment, recycling and reusing materials and minimising waste.
- Reducing emissions from business travel where possible.
- Increase supplier engagement through supply chain mapping and work closer with customers to decrease the carbon footprint of our products.
- Working with our industry partners for joint conversations to share best practices and foster an environment of information sharing.
- We are part of the Climate Action Team in the Hexatronic Group.
Ethics and corporate governance
- Quality assurance is a top priority for us, and we have a dedicated team that looks after our quality management systems. This includes our ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, Elite CHAS accreditation, and Safe Contractor.
- Within IDS, we have recently rallied a group of employees to engage in community work called the Social Impact Battalion.
How we will do it
- Transition to UKAS accreditation for our integrated management system ISO 9001, 14001, 45001.
- Develop a resilient sustainability strategy that will provide the groundwork, metrics and actions to be implemented within the organisation for us to achieve our carbon and social goals.
- Establish a ESG committee which will help to maintain and govern any environmental risks and opportunities.
- Driving decarbonisation through improving our operational data quality, working collaboratively across the business to bring key stakeholders along this journey which will improve mechanisms of obtaining the relevant GHG data to help with sustainable business practices while helping our customers reduce their environmental impact.
- Investing to innovate for circular and energy efficient data centre solutions with a low environmental impact by using circular design principles by including a long lifetime, low carbon footprint and high recyclability.
- Manufacturing: We are actively reducing our carbon emissions, enhancing our metal procurement processes, and transitioning to a circular production model to minimize waste and decrease our dependence on virgin materials, and introduce a higher percentage of recycled materials in our products.
- Volunteering and Social Impact: We leverage our resources and expertise to promote equality, diversity, human rights, and sustainability. We encourage our people to make a positive impact both with their peers and within their local communities. To support this, we provide an annual giving day – an extra day to support environmental initiatives and give back to the local community.
- IDS has aligned our strategies and operations with the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact since 2024.
